Position Title: Shelver - Student
Hours: Part-time, 12 hours/week
Reports to: Public Services Assistant Manager
Starting Wage: $10.76/hour
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Position Closing Date: Open until filled
Position Summary: This position plays a key role in maintaining an orderly and welcoming library environment. This position is responsible for shelving library materials accurately, keeping collections organized, and ensuring items are readily available for patrons. Shelvers may also assist with light cleaning duties and providing friendly, helpful customer service.

- Shelves and organizes library materials accurately according to the library’s classification system.
- Maintains neat and orderly shelves.
- Shifts and straightens collections as needed.
- May assist with pulling materials from shelves for holds, displays, and special projects.
- May assist patrons with locating items or referring them to other staff as appropriate.
- Performs basic cleaning and tidying of public areas (arranging chairs, picking up stray items, other light cleaning, etc.).
- May assist circulation staff with clerical tasks as assigned.
- Reports damaged or missing materials to appropriate staff.
- Provides excellent customer service to all patrons.
- Special projects as assigned.

- Ability to learn and implement best practices within the position focus areas.
- Knowledge of the community preferred.
- Must be flexible and willing to provide service to all ages and backgrounds.
- Must be inquisitive and eager to learn new things.
Minimum Training, Education, and Experience:
- Customer service experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires standing and mobile activities for the majority of assigned duties.
- Must be able to bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
Other:
- Schedule will include daytime, evening, and weekend hours (including Sundays), and may include six-day workweeks.
- The successful candidate will have excellent attendance habits.
